On Cloud Nine - May 19 & 20, 2018 - Ocean City, NJ

The ECRDA's ninth annual open-to-the-public beach hunt, On Cloud Nine, will welcome hundreds of THers to family-friendly Ocean City NJ. Your registration includes two adult hunts each day and lunch both days.

Here's the hunt flyer & registration form. Grab it now, fill it out, and bring it along. Walk-ons are welcome!

Early registration is over -- but we still have room. Come on down!

The hunts go on rain or shine. Don't forget rain gear for your machine and for you.

❉ Hunts

We'll host two adult hunts each day, as well as a Kids Hunt on Saturday. We'll also hold an optional "Big Silver" hunt on Saturday, and an optional Gold Hunt on Sunday.

❉ Prizes

As always, we'll be awarding lots of great prizes including top-of-the-line metal detectors, additional detectors, silver and gold coins (including Reales!), and much more. And there are several additional contests throughout each day!

❉ Lunch

As always, lunch is on us: pizza and sausage & peppers. We'll also supply soda and water. When you register at the Music Pier each morning, coffee & snack cakes are on us, too.

❉ Saturday: optional 'Big Silver' Hunt

Our special 'Big Silver' Hunt takes place on Saturday. You can register at our table that day.

❉ Sunday: optional Gold Hunt

You may also want to opt in to 0ur Gold Hunt on Sunday. You can register at our table that day.

❉ About the Kids Hunt

As we do every year, our very popular Kids Hunt will be held on Saturday for budding treasure hunters age 13 and younger -- and we have plenty of helpful members who are ready to assist your kids.

While an adult must accompany their charges, only the kids need to register.

Depending on their ages (and height), some kids can wield a metal detector, but more typically, a member will show the kids how it works, and then the adult will use the detector and guide the kids to find the treasures.

Every child will have his own small area of the beach where he/she will find several buried treasures. (They are in sand, and are easily scooped up.) These are typically interesting-looking foreign coins which they can keep. Every child will also find a raffle ticket guaranteed to win a larger prize including toys, coins, fossils, and such... even bicycles and a metal detector.

Parents can register their kid(s) on Saturday morning from 9 am right up until 10:45 am (the hunt starts at 11), but you'll want to get there an hour or more earlier; last year we welcomed between 60 and 70 children. It's a very popular event!

We invite and encourage everyone to spread the word to kids' clubs and associations; it's a great way to introduce them to our fascinating hobby. As always, we will need volunteers to assist with the Kids Hunt on Saturday. If you're interested in assisting them in the hunt, you can mark the appropriate box on your registration form, or you can sign up at the event -- and you'll be entered in an exclusive contest for a gold coin for your efforts. We anticipate a great turnout, and we look forward to having you join us.

❉ Stuff You Should Know

  • The Hunts go on, rain or shine. You might want to bring rain gear for your machine, and (optionally) for yourself.
  • As always, we'll need volunteers to help out with the Kids Hunt.
  • Seating might be an issue; we have to share the available chairs. Be prepared.
